CAD Detailer

• You are responsible for your safety!
• Work safely in accordance with the APEX Safety Management System and adhere to all Company rules and regulations.

• Immediately report any unsafe conditions, injuries, illness and near misses or acts to a supervisor.
• Review and understand JSA, permits, site conditions and job hazards prior to starting any work and check that the work to be performed is safe. If work appears unsafe, report to supervisor and do not proceed until conditions are safe.

• Review and understand the job and be physically and mentally fit to perform the job.

• Attend and actively participate in all safety meetings as required including daily toolbox meetings and skill training.

Piping Design

• Follows approved design, material control, and quality control practices and procedures.
• Provides frequent updates to lead detailer on the status of piping design projects.
• Submit and document all information requests, clarifications and changes using established protocol.
• Identifies changes in job scope or material and design requirements and notifies lead detailer and Project Manager.
• Researches shop and field inquiries and draft responses.
• Use specifications, design instructions, customer supplied drawings, models and information to generate and issue piping design documents, isometrics and drawings for fabrication.
• Must be able to travel to Customer sites working safely in commercial and industrial facilities and to accurately and efficiently lay-out, sketch and assist Customer and/or APEX field personnel with routing and design of piping systems, skid modules, structural supports, mezzanines and other related tasks.
• Identify project material requirements and provide to purchasing for procurement. Process must include review of original estimates and material take offs.
• Create cut lists, piece lists, bend tickets, weld maps and bills of material.
• Commits to quality control and checks work. Thoroughly reviews documents, drawing and isometrics and submits them to lead detailer for approval to be issued.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• High School Education and Associate Degree or higher preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of Auto Cad is required. 2 or more years of CAD operation experience.
• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Must have solid mathematic skills, particularly trigonometry.
• Must have knowledge of ASME B31.3.
• Must be able to read mechanical piping drawings.

• Must have good communication skills and be able to motivate team.
• Must be extremely detail oriented and able to follow directions and specifications.
• Must have good problem solving skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to answer telephone, communicate with clients and other employees.
• Must be able to wear PPE required to enter manufacturing, industrial and petro chemical facilities.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work with and must use drafting tools and operate computer equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job typically requires work in an office environment.
